My Choice

This short meditation is for anyone who’s ever felt like they “can’t meditate” because the mind is too busy, too loud, too full.
This short meditation is for anyone who’s ever felt like they “can’t meditate” because the mind is too busy, too loud, too full.

This meditation is for giving up trying to silent the thoughts. Instead we want to see the thoughts that seem to run wild when we decide to meditate. We don’t want to make an enemy of them – this will only make them seem more real, more important and more powerful. We want to remember we have all the power and control of our mind. We are choosing what to focus on, what we want to think about.

With this meditation, make the choice for peace, for quiet. This is your intention, your mantra if you will, not to repeat it mindlessly but to return to it when you notice your mind wandering. Instead of engaging with and following all other thoughts, choose to return to the thought you want.

Each time you make this choice and return, no matter how many times you seem to need to do it, you ARE progressing in showing yourself you have the choice. The more we do this, the more the other thoughts fade. We build confidence in the FACT that we are the one choosing our thoughts, which thoughts to focus on.

This short meditation is for anyone who’s ever felt like they “can’t meditate” —
because the mind is too busy, too loud, too full.

But here’s the truth:
You don’t need to silence your thoughts to be at peace.
You don’t need a still mind to begin.
You only need a moment of willingness
a moment to pause and remember:
you are not your thoughts.
You are the one who notices the thoughts.

In this meditation, we’re not trying to fight or fix the mind.
We’re simply choosing to rest our attention where we want it to be.
And if the mind wanders — that’s okay.
We just come back, gently.

That return – over and over- is the practice.

So, find a quiet space, get comfortable, and let’s begin.

Read this meditation and then listen to the audio with your eyes closed. Watch your thoughts. After listening, sit for 15 minutes with your eyes closed and ask in your mind “what thoughts do I want”

ACIM MEDITATION:

Right now, just take a breath.

Not to control anything. Not to change the moment.
Just to notice. Just to be here.

You may notice thoughts coming and going. That’s alright.
You don’t need to stop them. You don’t need to fight them.
Just see them for what they are: passing moments, not facts.

Now, bring your attention gently to something steady.
Perhaps the feeling of the breath moving in and out.
Or the weight of your body where you sit.
Or simply the thought: I am here.

If thoughts distract you, let them go without judgment.
They are not real. They are echoes — the mind’s habit, the ego’s pull.

You are not those thoughts.
You are the one who notices.
You are the one who chooses.

You can come back. Again and again.

Each return is strength. Each return is freedom.

You don’t need a silent mind to be at peace.
You only need to remember — you are not the noise.
You are the stillness beneath it.

And from that stillness, you can choose again.

Let that be enough for now.

You are here. You are aware. That is enough.
